An electric recliner chair that raises to help you stand is called a riser recliner chair. They are designed for elderly and disabled users who have limited mobility and need a little extra support to get up from a seated position. The whole chair rises and tilts forward whilst you are still sat in it. Once fully raised, you will be in a near-standing position with feet feet firmly on the floor and will be able to use the chair armrests to support you whilst standing.
A riser chair also has all the functionality of a normal recliner chair. The backrest reclines and the legrest rises to put the chair into a reclined position for relaxation and rest. It is not advisable to sleep for long periods of time in a riser recliner (e.g. overnight) unless the chair has been specifically designed for this purpose. A chair designed for overnight sleep will be posturally adapted and should also have pressure relieving seat foams and padding.
