Now launched: Synergy hybrid mattress system

Synergy Hybrid MattressSynergy defined is, ‘the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements’.

Hybrid technology combines air and foam

Introducing the Synergy, the first in a roll-out of Opera® hybrid mattress systems. This innovative hybrid mattress system combines exceptional comfort through specialist foams, with effective pressure distribution by integrated self-adjusting air-foam cells, resulting in a superior pressure relieving experience for the user.

combining advanced technologies to produce a superior pressure relieving experience

Non-powered self-adjusting technology

The Synergy uses a non-powered self-adjusting technology to effectively redistribute the pressure exerted on the mattress. This means there is no pump unit resulting in minimal maintenance costs and resident comfort complaints. The air-foam cells use exposed air valves to naturally inhale and exhale air from the mattress body, ensuring the system evenly distributes pressure across the user’s body. This air-foam system is inset into a firm foam frame which provides support and stability which becomes particularly useful when transferring the user into and out of the bed.

240 soft foam node surface

A 2-inch castellated visco-foam topping completes the composition. The castellation is formed from a grid of 240 individually semi-rounded nodes on the top surface of the mattress. Each node of soft foam compresses easily to provide minimal resistance to pressure applied on the surface of the mattress.

Heel zone pressure relief

The foam in the Synergy is tapered down at the foot end of the mattress to relieve pressure on the heels of the user. Heels are particularly susceptible to pressure ulcers because they bear the majority of the weight of the legs, resulting in a lot of pressure for a small area of skin. By tapering the foot end of the mattress, the thighs take most of the weight, spreading the pressure over a greater area of skin. This also results in the heels barely coming into contact with the surface of the mattress, greatly reducing friction and shear on this vulnerable area of skin.

Practical and safe

Designed for high dependency users, the Synergy was constructed with safety in mind. Handle loops are fixed to four corners on the underside of the mattress, greatly increasing the ease of evacuation in the event of an emergency. Straps that are buckled underneath the mattress platform of a bed, also ensure the Synergy can be securely strapped to the bed it is used in conjunction with.
